Made in Styria - Improved in California I participated in a Writing for the Web-workshop recently and one of the exercises was to write an exaggerated 'About Me' for my product/services website. The class was in German and therefore, so is the result. Let me know what you think!  Mein Name ist Cornelia, aber seit der dritten Klasse Volksschule nennt mich jeder Connie, weil wir damals 'coole' englische Namen von unserer Englischlehrerin bekamen. Ich bin zu 100% aus steirischem Fleisch mit ungarischer Gewürzmischung hergestellt, jedoch wurde meine Fleischqualität unter der teilwiesen Aufsicht von Governeur Arnold Schwarzenegger über 10 Jahre lang in Kalifornien aufgebessert. Social Media Killed the Video Star - and My Mood

You may have noticed that I haven't posted a blog article in a while. This is partly due to me being busy at my day job - nope, I don't make a living (yet) with just writing - and on the other hand due to me being worn out ... by social media. Specifically by Instagram. I kept hearing about travel bloggers, fashion bloggers and motivational speakers having tens of thousands of followers making really good money through sponsored posts and getting lots of freebies in exchange for product reviews. That sounded intriguing to me. I like writing. I like trying new things. Sounds like my calling. I knew I had to get started with generating lots of followers. I thought I look into that some more. I learned that good, clean photos and the right kind of hashtags as well as frequent postings will lead to getting more followers. ...is cooking dinner. ...doesn't know what to watch on TV tonight. ...is looking for a restaurant recommendation. ...likes your photo/activity/status/bowel movement. I'll be the first to admit that the general content on people's social networking profiles is beyond boring. Do you really think that people care that your cat just spit out a hair ball? That your boyfriend cooked you dinner? That your favorite sports team won? That your boyfriend's dinner gave you food poisoning. Probably not. Hell, how often do I think - wow, you really don't have a life do you? But then again, I'm sure some people say that about my hiking photos, my party pics (that, I admit, look pretty similar every weekend - oh yeah, I'm guilty of frequent photogasms on my profile page), that I became a fan of 'I love Milka' and 'I did not sleep with Tiger Woods'.
