Miss Euro Blogger - Bursting the Bubble

You may have noticed that I haven't posted a blog article in a while. This is partly due to me being busy at my day job - nope, I don't make a living (yet) with just writing - and on the other hand due to me being worn out ... by social media. Specifically by Instagram. I kept hearing about travel bloggers, fashion bloggers and motivational speakers having tens of thousands of followers making really good money through sponsored posts and getting lots of freebies in exchange for product reviews. That sounded intriguing to me. I like writing. I like trying new things. Sounds like my calling. I knew I had to get started with generating lots of followers. I thought I look into that some more. I learned that good, clean photos and the right kind of hashtags as well as frequent postings will lead to getting more followers. Before I started to take Instagram more seriously, I only used it to put a filter on my photos for posting on Facebook later. My skin just looks better in Gingh...

So... I got married this year... twice... to the same guy - of course. As you know from my previous blog posts, I have been married before and was a happily divorced woman. In the years following, I didn't think I ever wanted to get married again. I had the 'been-there-done-that-meh-not-that great' kind of attitude. And why do something again that wasn't all that the first time around. Nonetheless, what I didn't think was going to happen happened. I met a boy. Boy was cute. Boy treated me right (respectful, loving and caring). Girl moved in with boy. Fast forward two years - boy popped the question on a cliff by the pacific ocean in Malibu. Girl said yes! And then... the planning phase started. I absolutely hated my first wedding. I hated the dress, the venue, the officiant, the atmosphere and the bored faces of the guests. I'll be the first to admit that the general content on people's social networking profiles is beyond boring. Do you really think that people care that your cat just spit out a hair ball? That your boyfriend cooked you dinner? That your favorite sports team won? That your boyfriend's dinner gave you food poisoning. Probably not. Hell, how often do I think - wow, you really don't have a life do you? But then again, I'm sure some people say that about my hiking photos, my party pics (that, I admit, look pretty similar every weekend - oh yeah, I'm guilty of frequent photogasms on my profile page), that I became a fan of 'I love Milka' and 'I did not sleep with Tiger Woods'.
